How Do You Turn Off Passive Mode on a Discord Server?

//

Heather Bennett

Passive mode is a useful feature on Discord servers that allows users to take a step back and observe without actively participating in conversations. However, there may come a time when you want to turn off passive mode and become an active participant again. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps of turning off passive mode on a Discord server.

Step 1: Launch Discord

To begin, open the Discord application or the web version of Discord on your preferred browser. Log in to your account if prompted.

Step 2: Locate the Server

Once you are logged in, navigate to the left-hand side of the screen where you will find a list of servers you are a member of. Locate and click on the server where you want to turn off passive mode.

Step 3: Access Server Settings

After selecting the desired server, locate and click on the server name at the top-left corner of the screen. This will open up a drop-down menu with various options.

Step 4: Enter Server Settings

In the drop-down menu, click on “Server Settings” near the bottom. This will take you to a new page specifically for managing settings related to that particular server.

Step 5: Navigate to Privacy Settings

On the left-hand side of the server settings page, look for and click on “Privacy Settings.” This section contains all privacy-related options for your server.

Step 6: Disable Passive Mode

In Privacy Settings, scroll down until you find “Passive Mode.” By default, passive mode is enabled with a checkmark next to it. To turn off passive mode, simply click on the checkbox to remove the checkmark.

Note: Disabling passive mode means you will no longer be able to passively observe conversations in the server. You will start receiving notifications for all server activity.

Step 7: Save Changes

Once you have disabled passive mode, scroll to the bottom of the Privacy Settings page and click on the “Save Changes” button. Your changes will now be applied, and you will no longer be in passive mode for that server.

Pro Tip: If you want to turn on passive mode again in the future, simply follow these steps and re-enable the “Passive Mode” option.

Congratulations! You have successfully turned off passive mode on a Discord server.

Now you can actively participate in discussions and engage with other members. Remember, if you ever want to turn on passive mode again, just follow these steps in reverse.

  • Step 1: Launch Discord
  • Step 2: Locate the Server
  • Step 3: Access Server Settings
  • Step 4: Enter Server Settings
  • Step 5: Navigate to Privacy Settings
  • Step 6: Enable Passive Mode
  • Step 7: Save Changes
