Creating a private server in Sea of Thieves (SOT) can be an exciting way to customize your gaming experience. Whether you want to play with a group of friends or explore the vast open world on your own, setting up a private server allows you to have complete control over your adventures. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to make your very own private server in SOT.

Step 1: Launching SOT

To begin, launch SOT on your computer and wait for the game to load. Once you are on the main menu, navigate to the “Settings” tab and click on it.

Step 2: Enabling Developer Mode

In the “Settings” menu, scroll down until you find an option called “Enable Developer Mode.” Click on the checkbox next to it to enable this mode. Developer Mode gives you access to additional features and settings that are not available in normal gameplay.

Step 3: Launching Command Prompt

After enabling Developer Mode, press the “Windows” key on your keyboard and type “Command Prompt” in the search bar. Click on the Command Prompt app that appears in the search results.

Step 4: Entering Commands

In Command Prompt, enter the following command:

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.SeaofThieves_<version number>\AppFiles\ShippingClient.exe

Note: Replace “<version number>” with the actual version number of SOT installed on your computer. You can find this information by navigating to C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.SeaofThieves_<version number> and checking the folder name.

Press “Enter” to run the command. This will launch SOT in a special mode that allows you to modify the game settings.

Step 5: Creating a Private Server

Once SOT is launched, navigate to the “Adventure” tab on the main menu. Here, you will find an option called “Private Crew.” Click on it to create your private server.

Upon selecting “Private Crew,” you will be prompted to select the number of ships you want in your server. Choose the desired number and click on “Next” to proceed.

Step 6: Inviting Friends

To invite your friends to join your private server, open the Xbox app on your computer and sign in with your Microsoft account. Once signed in, click on the “Friends” tab and search for your friends’ Xbox Gamertags. Add them as friends and send them an invitation to join your private server.

Note:

  • Only players who have SOT installed on their computer can join your private server.
  • You can invite up to 3 friends to join you in a private crew.

Step 7: Enjoy Your Private Server!

That’s it! You have successfully created a private server in SOT. Now you can embark on thrilling adventures with your friends or explore the vast seas all by yourself without any interruptions from other players.

Remember: Private servers are only available for Adventure mode and not for Arena or Tall Tales mode.

We hope this tutorial has helped you set up your own private server in Sea of Thieves. Enjoy sailing the seas and creating unforgettable memories with your crew!
