Discord is a popular platform that allows users to communicate with each other through voice, video, and text. While video calls are mostly associated with one-on-one conversations, Discord also offers the option to enable video calls on a server.

This can be particularly useful for group meetings, gaming sessions, or simply catching up with friends. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to enable video call on a Discord server.

Step 1: Create or Find a Server

If you haven’t already, start by creating a new server or finding an existing one where you have administrative privileges. Only administrators can enable video calls on a server.

Step 2: Open Server Settings

Once you are in the desired server, locate the server settings by clicking on the down arrow next to the server name in the top-left corner of your screen. From the drop-down menu, select “Server Settings.”

Step 3: Navigate to “Overview”

In the left sidebar of the Server Settings window, click on “Overview.” This will display various settings related to your Discord server.

Step 4: Enable “Community” Option

In the Overview section, look for the “Community” option. This option allows you to enable additional features like video calls and stage channels for your server.

By default, it might be disabled.

To enable it, simply toggle the switch next to “Community” from off (gray) to on (blue). Once enabled, you should see additional options appear below it.

Step 5: Enable Video Calls

Now that you have enabled the Community feature for your server, scroll down until you find the “Video Calls” option. Similar to the Community option, you can toggle the switch next to “Video Calls” from off to on.

Step 6: Adjust Permissions (Optional)

If needed, you can further customize who can access and use video calls on your server. To do this, click on the “Roles” tab in the Server Settings window.

Here, you can modify the permissions for each role in your server by toggling the switches next to “Video” and “Connect.” This allows you to control which roles can initiate video calls and join existing ones.

Step 7: Save Changes

Once you have enabled video calls and adjusted the permissions according to your preferences, don’t forget to save the changes. To do this, simply click on the “Save Changes” button located at the bottom-right corner of the Server Settings window.

Step 8: Start a Video Call

Now that video calls are enabled on your server, anyone with appropriate permissions can initiate a video call. To start a video call, click on the “+” button in a voice channel and select “Start Video Call.” This will open a new window where you can invite other members or share your screen during the call.

Congratulations! You have successfully enabled video calls on your Discord server. Enjoy seamless communication with your friends or community members through high-quality video calls!
