How Do I Enable TTS in Discord Server?
If you want to make your Discord server more accessible and interactive, enabling Text-to-Speech (TTS) can be a great option. TTS allows users to have their messages read out loud by a bot, making it easier for everyone to engage in conversations. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to enable TTS in your Discord server.
Step 1: Open Discord and Navigate to Server Settings
To begin, open your Discord application and navigate to the server where you want to enable TTS. Once you are on the server, locate the server name at the top left corner of the screen.
Right-click on it, and a drop-down menu will appear. From this menu, select “Server Settings” as shown below:
Step 2: Access Text & Images Settings
After clicking on “Server Settings,” a new window will open with various options for configuring your server. Look for the “Text & Images” tab on the left-hand side of this window. Click on it to access the text and image settings for your server:
Step 3: Enable Text-to-Speech
In the “Text & Images” settings page, scroll down until you find the section labeled “Text-to-Speech.” This is where you can enable or disable TTS functionality for your server.
To enable TTS, simply toggle the switch next to “Allow playback and usage of /tts command” to turn it on. The switch should turn green when enabled:
Once you have enabled TTS, users on your server will be able to use the /tts command in their messages to have them read out loud by a bot.
Step 4: Test TTS Functionality
Now that you have enabled TTS in your Discord server, it’s time to test it out. Simply type “/tts [message]” (without the quotation marks) in any text channel on your server.
The message you enter after the /tts command will be read aloud by a bot to all users in that channel. Make sure you have your volume turned up so you can hear the TTS playback.
Additional Tips:
- If you only want specific channels to have TTS enabled, you can adjust the permissions for each channel individually. To do this, go back to the server settings and select “Roles” from the left-hand side menu.
From there, click on a specific role and scroll down until you find the “Text Permissions” section. Toggle the switch next to “Use TTS” to enable or disable it for that particular role.
- TTS is not available on mobile devices at this time. It can only be used on desktop or web versions of Discord.
Congratulations! You have successfully enabled TTS in your Discord server. Now you and your fellow users can enjoy a more immersive and inclusive chatting experience with Text-to-Speech functionality.
Happy chatting!
