In this tutorial, we will learn how to connect to the Blue Iris web server. Blue Iris is a popular video surveillance software that allows you to monitor and record multiple cameras from a single interface.

Step 1: Install Blue Iris

The first step is to install Blue Iris on your computer. You can download the software from the official website and follow the installation instructions. Once installed, open Blue Iris and configure your cameras.

Step 2: Access the Web Server

To access the Blue Iris web server, open your preferred web browser and enter the IP address of your computer followed by a colon and the port number used by Blue Iris (default is 80). For example, if your computer’s IP address is 192.168.1.100 and the port number is set to default, you would enter http://192.100:80 in your browser’s address bar.

Tip:

If you are unsure about your computer’s IP address, you can find it by opening the Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac) and typing ipconfig. Look for the IPv4 Address under your network connection.

Step 3: Log in to Blue Iris

Once you have accessed the web server, you will be prompted with a login screen. Enter your username and password that you set during the initial setup of Blue Iris.

Note:

If this is your first time logging into Blue Iris or if you have forgotten your login credentials, you can reset them by opening Blue Iris on your computer and going to “Options” > “Web server” > “Reset.” This will reset both the username and password to their default values.

Step 4: Navigate the Blue Iris Web Interface

After logging in, you will be presented with the Blue Iris web interface. This interface allows you to view live camera feeds, playback recorded footage, configure settings, and perform various other operations.

Live View:

To view live camera feeds, click on the “Cameras” tab. Here, you will see a list of all the cameras that are connected to Blue Iris. Click on a camera name to view its live feed.

Playback:

If you want to view recorded footage, click on the “Clips” tab. You can search for clips by date and time or use advanced search filters to narrow down your results.

Settings:

The “Settings” tab allows you to configure various options such as camera properties, motion detection settings, email notifications, and more. Explore this tab to customize Blue Iris according to your preferences.
