In this tutorial, we will learn how to assign an icon to a server in Discord. Adding an icon to your server can help personalize it and make it more visually appealing. Let’s get started!
Step 1: Open Discord
To begin, open the Discord application on your computer or visit the Discord website and log in to your account.
Step 2: Select the Server
Next, select the server to which you want to assign an icon. On the left-hand side of the screen, you will see a list of servers you are a member of. Click on the server name to open it.
Step 3: Access Server Settings
Once inside the server, locate and click on the down arrow next to the server name at the top left corner of the screen. This will open a drop-down menu with various options.
- Note: You need to have administrative privileges or be the server owner to access these settings.
Step 4: Choose Server Settings
In the drop-down menu, click on “Server Settings” near the bottom. This will take you to the settings page for that particular server.
Step 5: Customize Server Icon
On the left-hand side of the settings page, you will see a list of different options. Scroll down until you find “Overview” and click on it.
Uploading a New Icon
To upload a new icon for your server, locate and click on “Server Icon” under “Overview”. Here, you will see your current server icon displayed along with an option to change it.
- Option 1: To upload a new icon from your computer, click on the “Upload” button under “Server Icon”. This will open a file explorer window where you can browse and select the desired image file.
- Option 2: If you already have an image URL, you can also paste it in the box provided below the “Server Icon” heading.
Make sure the URL points directly to the image file (ending in .jpg, .png, etc. ).
Adjusting Icon Position
Besides uploading a new icon, you can also choose to adjust its position within Discord. To do this, click on the “Edit” button located next to the server icon preview.
- In the pop-up window, you can drag and drop or use the arrow keys to reposition your server icon. This will determine how it appears in various places such as the server list and chat windows.
Removing Current Icon
If you want to remove your current server icon entirely and revert back to Discord’s default icon, click on the “Reset” button under “Server Icon”. This will remove your custom icon and replace it with Discord’s default icon.
Step 6: Save Changes
After making any desired changes to your server icon or its position, make sure to click on the “Save Changes” button at the bottom right corner of the screen. This will apply your changes and update your server’s icon accordingly.
Congratulations! You have successfully assigned an icon to your server in Discord. Feel free to experiment with different icons until you find one that perfectly represents your server’s theme or purpose.
If you ever want to change or update your server icon in the future, simply follow these steps again. Happy customizing!
